Wrapping Up The Semester

It’s already the end of the semester! I can’t believe that wow! I know it can be a struggle during the finals season, especially in a situation like the pandemic. However, remember to treat yourselves well and talk to your friends – they can be as stressed as you are! Also, whenever you feel disappointed in yourself, take a break and reflect on what you have achieved in the past semester. With the last blog of the semester we will recap what USWIB has achieved during the past semester!

10th Annual Conference: Rise to the Challenge

It has been a challenging year, but we tried our best to make our annual conference as engaging and thought provoking as previous years. Our chosen theme was  “Rise to the Challenge” inspired by all the resilient and hard working women we have witnessed in the last year. Conference was the perfect opportunity to celebrate women in business. Considering the circumstances, we had to make many accommodations to adapt for a virtual conference. For example, the conference went on for an entire week to accommodate students and professionals across different time zones. We also utilized a new online platform called Hopin for the Summit Day to boost 1-on-1 networking opportunities. Additionally, we were honored to have Ms. Mary John Miller as our keynote speaker. Thanks to our dedicated Conference team we were able to host a successful conference!

DEI Dialogues

This semester we hosted 6 DEI Dialogues! Our topics include Unconscious Bias, Citizenship, Mental Health, Religion, Incarceration, and Taking Action. Also, we were honored to have guest speakers including Prof. Dolly Chugh, Liz Sweigart, Beckie Hamroff, Essma Bengabsia, Ben Grizzle, and Kim Taylor-Thompson. We hope you found our events engaging and had an opportunity to have open and honest conversations on issues of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion problems.

General Meeting & Mentorship

Apart from the Annual Conference and DEI Dialogue, we had our General Meetings on Monday and Mentorship Programs to help our members to gain insight about the various industries and the resources at school. Our meeting topics included resume & cover letter workshops, internship preparation, networking tips, and Firm info sessions!

Looking Forward

We have achieved a lot during this semester, and hope to continue these endeavors! Wish you a safe and fruitful summer! See you in the fall (hopefully in-person)!
