Florentine Asian Food and Grocery

BY WENDY LI

Hi! Here is a little compiled blog of Asian stores and restaurants that I’ve found and loved in Florence.

Via Sant’ Antonio

This is Via Sant'Antonio: the Asian mart street.

“Via” means street in Italian so this means Sant’Antonio street. This street is about an 8-10 minute walk from both off campus dorms and is a hub for East Asian grocery stores, restaurants, and cafes that are very well priced. Spanish Culture and Understanding Vegetarianism

Specific places on this street:

  • Supermercato della fortuna: Via Sant'Antonino 36 R 50123 Florence, Italy

  • Groceries: Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Thai, etc. can be found here

  • Union City: Via Sant'Antonino 7 50123 Florence, Italy

  • Snacks: they have a massive, cheap international East Asian snacks and drinks

  • It is not on Apple Maps yet but I am working on it! The address above currently says its a Carrefour Express but it IS Union City (I promise), maps just hasn’t updated in a while

Restaurants and Food

Asia Rosticceria Cinese: Via Nazionale 141 R 50129 Florence, Italy

This is classic hole-in-the-wall Chinese prices and food. The couple that run the place speak very fluent Mandarin and Italian and decent English so ordering is quite easy for me. I highly recommend getting the fried chicken and the orange chicken.

Chuanchuan Xiang Hot Pot: Via Rosina 7 50123 Florence, Italy

This is a really amazing hot pot place, BUT you will not be able to find it by the name, you must go to the address, it is right on the corner and you will see the “ristorante cinese” sign. It is not all you can eat but the portions and the flavors make up for it as it is priced very well.

Crown of India: Via Faenza 102 R Unit 104 50123 Florence, Italy

This Indian place is the best tasting and best priced one that I have found in a reasonable walking distance (it has €10 chicken curry and €2 garlic naan). ALSO, if you dine in or order through their phone number on Whatsapp, and you tell them you are an NYU student and bring your ID, you get 10% off! Also, if you are eating in, I recommend you bring cash because sometimes they will also give you discounts for cash.
